Cochin (Kochi): known as the “Queen of Arabian Sea” is the most densely populated city in Kerala. Kochi was an important spice trading centre on the west coast of India from the 14th century onward and maintained a trade network with Arab merchants from the pre-Islamic era. Occupied by the Portuguese in 1503, Kochi was the first of the European colonies in colonial India.
Kumarakom: is set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake, the largest lake in the state of Kerala, famous for its backwater tourism, which will be more delightful when it is explored at the houseboats. Kumarakom is a habitat for many marine and freshwater fish species and very famous for Karimeen (Pearl spot) ) and Poovalan chemeen (shrimp).
